Paul S. Eckstein (11 September 19636 June 2023; age 59), also credited as Paul Eckstein, was an actor who made several appearances on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager, always in mask and heavy make-up, including two Jem'Hadar, two Hirogen, and a Klingon. In addition, he provided voices for the video game Star Trek: Armada.

Eckstein made his television debut on Law & Order starring Carolyn McCormick in the episode "Consultation", which paired Eckstein with future Deep Space Nine co-star Andrew Robinson. The episode also included Voyager and Enterprise guest star Keith Szarabajka. In 1994, in the short film Ripple, Eckstein worked with another Deep Space Nine co-star, Colm Meaney, as well as Megan Gallagher, Ed Lauter, and Robert Picardo. Eckstein followed this up with 1995's Suspect Device with Bill Bolender. That same year Eckstein played an unnamed paramedic in Seven with Reg E. Cathey and Leland Orser. 1996 found Eckstein working with Lawrence Monoson in Black Rose of Harlem. Eckstein then appeared in Hoodlum (1997, starring Laurence Fishburne, with Ed O'Ross, Mike Starr, Clarence Williams III and Vanessa Williams). Also that year was Bella Mafia, with Gina Philips and Larissa Laskin.

Outside acting, Eckstein worked as a writer on First Wave starring Rob LaBelle, with Roger Cross. Eckstein also co-wrote. with Joe Menosky, the episode "Zion" for The Dead Zone, created by Michael Piller and Shawn Piller and starring Nicole de Boer and David Ogden Stiers, and guest-starring Mark Rolston. Eckstein co-wrote the episode "Boots on the Ground" for Law & Order: Criminal Intent in which Jeri Ryan guested. Eckstein served as story editor on Street Time for the episode "Born to Kill" guest-starring Daniel Dae Kim. He was the co-creator of Godfather of Harlem in which Whoopi Goldberg, Paul Sorvino, Ronald Guttman, Geoffrey Blake and Steve Vinovich appeared.

Eckstein died in his sleep in Jamaica, where he was teaching a screenwriting workshop. [1]
