Padma Lakshmi (born 1 September 1970; age 54) is the actress who portrayed Kaitaama in the Star Trek: Enterprise second season episode "Precious Cargo".

Previously a model, she has hosted several food-related television programs including Padma's Passport on the American Food Network and Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi on Hulu. She also served as host, judge, and producer of the reality competition show Top Chef from its second to its twentieth seasons, for which she was nominated five times for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program.

Her American film and television credits include roles in the movie Sharpe's Challenge and the ABC miniseries The Ten Commandments.

She is the author of several cookbooks as well as the memoir Love, Loss, and What We Ate published in 2016.

From 2004 to 2007, she was married to author Salman Rushdie.
