Os'ir
Os'ir was a male Coridanite that lived during the 3180s. He was a father with several children.
Os'ir was more cynical than his colleague Kal, believing that the United Federation of Planets could not be counted on to help his people after its decline following the Burn.
In 3189, he was a miner and bartender who lived and worked on a planet known simply as "The Colony". That year, when a time-displaced Commander Saru and Ensign Sylvia Tilly entered the settlement to trade for much-needed repairs for USS Discovery's communications system, Kal and Os'ir doubted their claim to be members of Starfleet and held them at gunpoint. However, when Tilly began to cite Starfleet regulations, Kal was convinced and assured Os'ir that they could be trusted. They offered to help the Starfleet officers repair the transtator in exchange for a supply of dilithium they could use to break free from Zareh, the planet's courier who controlled all off-planet logistics for the Colony.
Unfortunately, the group was interrupted by Zareh and his henchmen shortly after repairing the transtater. When Zareh learned that the miners and the Starfleet officers had made a deal against his interests, he shot Kal in retaliation, painfully killing him. When Zareh was later incapacitated by Saru and Philippa Georgiou, the courier demanded Os'ir help him by threatening to destroy the colony's life support, which would doom its inhabitants (including his children) to a slow death by asphyxiation. Os'ir refused and, when Saru left Zareh's fate to him, decided to exile Zareh from the settlement to brave the planet's parasitic ice alone.
With Zareh gone, Os'ir took custody of his starship and completed the trade with Saru and Tilly. Before the Starfleet officers returned to Discovery, Os'ir expressed regret over Kal's death and remarked that they had proven the Federation could be counted on after all. (DIS: "Far From Home")
