Orbiculus was a massive photonic construct formed in 2382 from the amalgamation of the entire Orb delegation sent to the USS Cerritos for peace talks with their longtime enemies, the Cubes. It was assembled at the climax of the shape war between the two photonic species.

The battle between Orbiculus and its Cube counterpart, Omegacube, endangered the Cerritos, which was caught between them. Ensign Olly devised a way to modify the ship's tractor beam to work on photonics by redirecting an electromagnetic field into the nacelles. This allowed the Cerritos to drain the energy from both constructs, forcing them to decompose back into their constituent Orbs and Cubes. (LD: "Of Gods and Angles")
