Oral history

Oral history was history passed down through generations by word of mouth, rather than a written language.

Species 262's oral history spoke of "a powerful substance which could burn the sky." The Borg became aware of this when they assimilated Species 262. Seven of Nine relayed the story to Kathryn Janeway in 2374. (VOY: "The Omega Directive")
