Old fart was a derogatory term for an older man.

In 2401, William T. Riker wondered aloud about the speech he was to give at Frontier Day, musing, "Who wants to hear some old fart drone on about going boldly for the last 250 years?" Jean-Luc Picard then reminded his former first officer that he, too, would be speaking at the event (making him fall under the same description). (PIC: "The Next Generation")
