Food pill
Food pills or nutritional pills were edibles which contained all the nutritional elements that one needed.
After Kelvans had taken control of the USS Enterprise in 2268, James T. Kirk, Spock, Leonard McCoy, and Montgomery Scott were discussing their predicament over a meal when Tomar displayed confusion that they took the trouble to consume "bulk" material to sustain themselves instead of food pills.
As part of a ruse to take back control of the ship, Doctor McCoy convinced Hanar that he was a bit anemic due to consuming food in pill form instead of solid sustenance. This allowed McCoy to give him repeated hypospray injections of a stimulant under the guise that it was a vitamin supplement. (TOS: "By Any Other Name")
