Norkan

Norkan, also known as Pi Hydrae or 49 Hydrae, was a planetary system in the Beta Quadrant.

It was a single star system with the orange giant Pi Hydrae as the primary of this system. (PIC: "Disengage")

History

Sometime before 2366, the Norkan outposts were established in this system. These outposts were later destroyed by the Romulan military, commanded by Admiral Alidar Jarok, in the Norkan Campaign. The Federation decried the attacks as a massacre. (TNG: "The Defector")

Stellar Cartography

The Norkan system was visible from Earth in the constellation Hydra. It was approximately 101 light years from Sol.

In 2401, Norkan's location was labeled on a star chart used aboard the SS Eleos XII. (PIC: "Disengage")

This star system was only mentioned in writing.

In the episode "Disengage", the location of this star system was seen on the bridge of the SS Eleos XII on what appears to be an updated chart from Star Trek: Star Charts. Dave Blass published pictures of the set on his website

In 2378, the Norkan outposts were listed as a Federation member.
