A nimbostratus cloud was a type of cloud associated with storms such as blizzards.

On Denaxi in 2384, Rok-Tahk noticed dark nimbostratus clouds and cautioned her crewmates that they should get moving to avoid being caught in the coming storm. (PRO: "Crossroads")
