Negligence

Negligence was a failure to behave with the level of care that someone of ordinary prudence would have exercised under the same circumstances.

In 2364, when a laser drill killed the terraformer Arthur Malencon, negligence was suspected as a possible cause, though it was actually the work of the microbrain. (TNG: "Home Soil")
