Negative particle

A negative particle is a type of particle found in the galactic barrier, and associated with negative energy.

When the USS Discovery prepared to cross the barrier in 3190, Captain Saru reported the density of negative particles in the local sector to be significantly higher than expected. As such, he warned that the ship's programmable antimatter-enhanced shields may not provide sufficient protection for the transit. (DIS: "The Galactic Barrier")
