Near miss

A near miss was an event that could have caused injury or damage, but did not.

In 2374, while taking a group of Borg cubes' leaving USS Voyager alone, Captain Kathryn Janeway said, "I'll take this near-miss as a good omen." (VOY: "Scorpion")
