Multiphase buffer

Multiphase buffers were technological components which could be installed on sensor modules to increase sensor efficiency.

The crew of the USS Enterprise-D installed multiphase buffers in 2370, during their attempts to compensate for tetryon interference in the Hekaras Corridor, while searching for the missing medical transport, the Fleming. (TNG: "Force of Nature")
