Spock's "multi-legged creature"

A multi-legged creature was any lifeform with multiple legs.

In 2256, Harry Mudd referred to Stuart as his "multi-legged friend". (DIS: "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad")

In 2267, Spock lied to an Eminian guard that "[t]here's a multi-legged creature crawling on your shoulder," before reaching towards him and applying a neck pinch. (TOS: "A Taste of Armageddon")

When Zero was exploring a planet's surface with the crew of a Medusan vessel in 2384, he encountered an animal that would have probably been best described as a "lizard-like grasshopper." Zero seemed to be intrigued by its' appearance, but also horrified the very next instant, when what he thought was just a rock turned out to be a multi-legged creature instead, which immediately ate the unfortunate animal.
