The Mossberg 500 was a type of projectile weapon known as a pump-action shotgun. This weapon was standard issue for law enforcement agencies.

In 2024, the leader of a SWAT team was armed with the Mossberg 500 Bullpup – a variant of the Mossberg 500, when they pacified Sanctuary District A during the Bell Riots. (DS9: "Past Tense, Part II")
