Modern medicine

Modern medicine was a term used to describe the current standard of medical care, as opposed to primitive, risky, or radical procedures. Comparatively primitive medicine was sometimes referred to as having originated in the Dark Ages. (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)
In 2153, when N. Kemper commented that those on Enterprise NX-01 who had not gotten their space legs yet still had to visit Dr. Phlox, Romero replied, "The wonders of modern medicine." (ENT: "The Xindi")
In 2371, The Doctor was frustrated over his being asked to repair realtively insignificant problems, such as runny noses, stubbed toes and pimples, bragging, "I am not just a doctor. I've been designed with the information from two thousand medical reference sources and the experience of forty seven individual medical officers. I am the embodiment of modern medicine." (VOY: "Parallax")
