Mike McMahan is a writer and author who served as executive producer and head writer/showrunner on Star Trek: Lower Decks, which he created. He also provided the vocal effects for Sabor's blazzard in the fifth season episode "Shades of Green" – though he was uncredited – and previously wrote the Star Trek: Short Treks first season episode "The Escape Artist".

A long-time Star Trek fan, McMahan is also the creator and maintainer of the @TNG_S8 Twitter account, which provides satirical outlines of episodes in a fictitious eighth season of Star Trek: The Next Generation. This work led to the commissioning of the reference book Star Trek: The Next Generation - Warped, which turned those outlines into a fully-fledged "episode guide".

McMahan has worked on a number of animated series, including South Park, Drawn Together, Out There, Axe Cop, and Rick and Morty.
