Medical clearance

Medical clearance was official permission from one's physician to take part in an activity which was potentially hazardous to one's health.

In 2375, The Doctor was aghast to learn that Harry Kim had had sex with Derran Tal without seeking medical clearance first. (VOY: "The Disease")

According to Chakotay, as of 2376, William Telfer always seemed to get a note from his doctor excluding him from away missions. (VOY: "Good Shepherd")
