Max Wagner (28 November 1901–16 November 1975; age 73) was an actor who appeared as a homeless man in the Star Trek: The Original Series first season episode "The City on the Edge of Forever". He filmed his scenes on Monday 6 February 1967 at Desilu Stage 11. He received no credit for this appearance.
A highly prolific bit actor and background actor, Wagner appeared in over four hundred film and television projects, ranging from the early-1920s to the mid-1970s. His credits include The Twilight Zone, The Wild Wild West, Bonanza, Kung Fu, Columbo, Gunsmoke, and The Rockford Files. His last work was the pilot episode of Starsky & Hutch, starring David Soul.
In 1927, Wagner was a lead witness in the well-publicized manslaughter trials of actor (and his roommate) Paul Kelly and actress/screenwriter Dorothy Mackaye.
