Master plan

A master plan was a comprehensive and long-term strategy or blueprint for achieving a specific goal or vision.

In 2375, when Kasidy Yates-Sisko asked whether Benjamin Sisko ever thought he'd become attached enough to Bajor to want to live there, Ben said it hadn't been a part of the master plan, adding that nothing had worked out as he'd expected since he came to Deep Space 9. (DS9: "Penumbra")

In 2376, while discussing the concerning coincidences of USS Voyager's mission with a theorizing Seven of Nine, Chakotay said, "I'll admit the timing seems a little convenient, but that doesn't mean there was a master plan." (VOY: "The Voyager Conspiracy")
