Mark II Nova Flyer
The Mark II Nova Flyer was a shuttlecraft used by Nova Squadron during the 2380s. It was redesigned at some point by Lieutenant Tom Paris. (PRO: "Ascension, Part I")
History
In 2384, while attending a Starfleet Academy preparatory school, Dal R'El watched Nova Flyers passing overhead in awe. (PRO: "Into the Breach, Part I")
Later that year, Nova Squadron performed a holodeck simulation of the Boothby Supernova before being interrupted by Dal who had been invited to train with them by Maj'el. (PRO: "Ascension, Part I")
When the Rev-1 attacked the USS Voyager-A shortly thereafter, Nova Squadron was launched to assist in the ship's defense with Dal taking the place of the injured Grom. Commander Tysess unlocked the Nova Flyers' safety protocols so that they could be used for more than target practice. Dodging the Rev-I's drones, Nova Squadron attempted to get a lock for Voyager, but was unable to get close enough. Instead, at Dal's suggestion, the Nova Flyers drew the drones off for the USS Protostar to get a lock instead. While successful, the drones were able to block Voyager's quantum torpedoes and the Nova Flyers were disabled in the resulting shockwave. (PRO: "Ascension, Part I")
Once Maj'el figured out how to restore secondary power, the Nova Flyers acted as Starfleet's primary line of defense with both Voyager and the Protostar having been disabled. After Zero retargeted the Incursor to lock onto her Flyer, Maj'el had Nova Squadron use the Boothby Supernova to destroy the Rev-I, saving Voyager and the Protostar. Afterwards, the Flyers landed on Voyager, where Nova Squadron's members were greeted as heroes for their actions. (PRO: "Ascension, Part II")
