A magnetic device was a form of technology that utilized magnetism.

After a Nausicaan implausibly won at Dom-Jot at Starbase Earhart in 2327, Cortan Zweller hypothesized that he was cheating by controlling the balls using "some sort of magnetic device in his belt." (TNG: "Tapestry")
