Magnasite was a powerful liquid that can easily dissolve many things and was even capable of eating duranium.

In 2370, Rom used magnasite drops to open Quark's latinum floor vault while Quark was away on a business trip, in order to store extra profits from Quark's Bar. However, he replaced the floor plates out of his own salary. Later, he used the drops to burn off a wall panel in the chemist's shop when he and Quark were running an errand for Vaatrik Pallra.
