A liturgy was a religious rite.

In 2367, Lwaxana Troi compared the Kaelon Resolution to a liturgy, upon seeing how dismayed Timicin was when he had decided not to partake in it. She hadn't realized how much a part of his identity it formed. (TNG: "Half a Life")
