Barash's mother fled her homeworld with Barash when their world was invaded and their people killed by their enemies. They traveled to Alpha Onias III, where she left her son behind. She provided her son with neural scanners and holographic projectors that protected him and gave him just about everything he wanted. She then left him behind on the planet so that their enemies wouldn't find him. (TNG: "Future Imperfect")
