Life savings
One's life savings was the sum total of money one had amassed rather than spent.
In 2372, Quark recognized the opening bid for his to-be-dessicated remains as being identical to the amount of his brother Rom's life savings - "seventeen bars, three strips and five slips of latinum", to be exact. Rom tried to deny it, labeling the amount coincidence, but Quark didn't buy it for a moment, adding that he didn't want Rom's charity. Rom then explained that it wasn't charity; rather, he wanted something to remember Quark by after he died. (DS9: "Body Parts")
