L. Playa

L. Playa was a Hysperian Human who served as a minstrel on the Monaveen, the royal starship of Queen Paolana, in the late 24th century.

In 2381, Playa played a lute in the engine room of the Monaveen while Lieutenant Commander Andy Billups and Ensign Sam Rutherford examined the dragonbreath engines. He was later among those reported killed when the ship's primary fusion reactor exploded; in actuality, he was unharmed and involved in Paolana's plot to fake her death, so as to trick Billups into losing his virginity. When Rutherford attempted to contact the USS Cerritos to warn Billups, Playa strummed his lute to jam Rutherford's combadge. Rutherford proceeded to knock him down and race to warn Billups in person. L. Playa was voiced by Phil LaMarr.
His name was only given on the list of reported casualties on Captain Carol Freeman's PADD, and appears to be a play on the phrase "lute player".
