Khefka IV

Khefka IV was the inhabited fourth planet in its star system. This world was the location of a Federation Consulate in the mid-24th century.

Verad was stationed there as a communications clerk at some point before 2370, and he took a native called Mareel under his care, rescuing her from the rough street-life on the planet, and taking her with him when he was recalled to Trill. (DS9: "Invasive Procedures")

Robert Hewitt Wolfe named this planet after Franz Kafka. (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion, p. 88)

According to StarTrek.com, the pronunciation for Khefka was "KEFF-kuh"; [1](X) however, according to the script pronunciation guide, the pronunciation was "KEF-kah". [2]

Furthermore, according to StarTrek.com, Khefka was the name of a star in the Federation sphere of influence, and that Khefka IV was Class M. [3](X)
