Kardashev scale

The Kardashev scale was a loose measurement of a civilization's technological advancement based on energy consumption.

In 3190, Doctor Hirai referred to Species 10-C as being Type II on the scale, as their Dark Matter Anomaly and hyperfield had energy requirements on par with the output of entire stars. (DIS: "Species Ten-C")

The Kardashev scale was proposed by Soviet astronomer and astrophysicist Nikolai Kardashev in 1964. On the scale, Type I refers to a species that consumes energy equivalent to that of their home planet, Type II a species that consumes the output of a star, and Type III a species that consumes the output of a galaxy.
