John Clayton worked as construction foreman in the art department of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Like fellow construction foreman Steven Monroe he only received credit in first season episode "Encounter at Farpoint".

Prior to his work on Star Trek, he worked as construction supervisor on The Golden Child (1986, starring Eddie Murphy, with propmaker Sam Mendoza).
