John Bruno directed the Star Trek: Voyager sixth season episodes "Tinker Tenor Doctor Spy" and "Fury". He also co-wrote the episode "Life Line" with Robert Picardo.

Bruno also directed Virus (1999, starring Jamie Lee Curtis). However, he primarily works on visual effects for films, including many from director James Cameron. He also served as visual effects supervisor for X-Men: The Last Stand (2006, starring Patrick Stewart, Famke Janssen, Rebecca Romijn and Kelsey Grammer, with Shohreh Aghdashloo, Chelah Horsdal, Aaron Stanford, Julian Christopher and John Pyper-Ferguson).
