John Beasley
John Beasley (born 28 September 1960; age 64) is a Grammy Award nominated music composer and pianist who wrote the additional score for the Star Trek: The Next Generation first season episode "Encounter at Farpoint". The music piece "Jazz M14" composed by him can be heard in the episode "11001001".
Beasley also composed music and additional scores for Family Ties (1985-1986), The Bronx Zoo (1987-1988), Open House (1989-90), Six Feet Under, Cheers, Twin Peaks, Seth MacFarlane's Family Guy, and Murphy Brown, The Linguini Incident (1991), Fried Green Tomatoes (1991), The People vs. Larry Flynt (1996), A Bug's Life (1998), The Green Mile (1999), Erin Brockovich (2000), Finding Nemo (2003) and WALL-E (2008). He also produced and arranged the title them for Goof Troop (1992-93).
A musician himself, Beasley worked with many singers including Barbra Streisand, Miles Davis, Chaka Khan, Queen Latifah, and James Brown. In the more recent years he worked as musical director and arranger on several reality shows such as American Idol (2005-10) and America's Got Talent (2007). He has also released his own music over the years and his ninth studio album "Positootly!" in 2009.
