An analysis of a Klingon weapon signature

An ion trace was one of the factors analyzed to identify a weapon signature, used to determine concentration of ion radiation.

The weapons analysis made by Malcolm Reed of the the debris of a Rigelian freighter that was discovered by Enterprise in late 2154 determined an ion trace of 569 CpM. This was one of the indicators that confirmed a Klingon weapon signature. (ENT: "Affliction")

In 3191, the USS Discovery arrived at the coordinates of a clue to the Progenitors technology, but none of Commander Joann Owosekun's scans, including an ion trace, polaron or multiphasic scans, picked up anything of note. (DIS: "Face the Strange")
