Internal injury

An internal injury was an injury inside the body, as opposed to outside.

In 2268, an amnesiac Captain James T. Kirk was revealed as a false god to the Amerind inhabitants when he couldn't enter the Preservers' obelisk to rouse the temple spirit to stop a storm. This resulted in both he and his wife Miramanee being stoned which resulted in her death from internal injuries. (TOS: "The Paradise Syndrome")
