Inside job

An inside job was any crime or event perpetrated by those who claimed to be its victims, blamed on another party.

Many conspiracy theories claimed that various attacks were inside jobs. One of Steve Levy's pet theories was that the Battle of Wolf 359 was an inside job (by the Federation/Starfleet). (LD: "No Small Parts", "Caves")
