Insemination was the process of introducing sperm into a female's reproductive tract to achieve fertilization and pregnancy.

In 2368, Soren described the place that J'naii young were incubated in as fibrous husks, which both parents inseminated. William T. Riker failed to see how the process could be as enjoyable as sex. (TNG: "The Outcast")
