Kovich, Vance, and Burnham in the Infinity Room

The Infinity Room was a highly secure location within Federation Headquarters. It was a featureless white space accessible only by transporter, which required possession of a device in the shape of an infinity symbol.

In 3191, Doctor Kovich had Fleet Admiral Charles Vance bring Captain Michael Burnham to the Infinity Room, so as to brief her about a top-secret Red Directive mission. Kovich admitted that he found the room "a bit theatrical for [his] taste." (DIS: "Red Directive")

Kovich later brought Burnham back to the Infinity Room where Kovich revealed that he had found the names of the six scientists who had hidden the Progenitors' technology. Kovich gave Burnham the list on a genuine 21st century legal pad, the origins of which Kovich wouldn't reveal. (DIS: "Whistlespeak")

After the close of the mission, Burnham offered Kovich back the device that gave her access to the Infinity Room, but Kovich told her to keep it, just in case as he had met few people who had impressed and aggravated Kovich as much as Burnham did. Burnham suspected that Moll would be getting a similar device should she choose to work for Kovich. (DIS: "Life, Itself")

Several weeks later, at Saru's wedding, the device signaled Burnham to report to the Infinity Room for another Red Directive mission. Burnham and Cleveland Booker decided to accept the quest. (DIS: "Life, Itself")
