Indictment

An indictment was a constitutional guarantee that nobody could face a criminal trial without being previously notified of the alleged criminal offenses.

When Hill found her "face down in the river," her boyfriend was indicted for her murder. The boyfriend then hired Slade Bender to kill Dixon Hill. (TNG: "Manhunt")
