Homeostasis was the maintenance of the balanced condition in a biological lifeform.

The main computer monitor in sickbay aboard the USS Enterprise-D featured a panel which displayed the homeostasis of the patient. (TNG: "Symbiosis", "We'll Always Have Paris", "The Neutral Zone")
