Historical parallel

An historical parallel was the reoccurrence of or comparative similarity between two historical incidents.

In 2370, Jean-Luc Picard noted the "disturbing historical parallels" between past treatment of indigenous peoples on Earth and the current situation on Dorvan V, specifically their being asked to leave the planet as their ancestors were similarly told to leave their homes by another government.
