In the second draft of the Star Trek: The Animated Series first season episode "The Lorelei Signal", Lieutenant Helen Trask was to be an engineering division officer present on USS Enterprise's bridge. She was to be seated across from Nyota Uhura's communications console, working under Montgomery Scott's supervision as his engineering assistant.

The script described her as "a tall young woman with short, curly blond hair." She also was to second Uhura's assertion that she did not consider the Taurean signal a summons. In the final episode, Scott is working at the station alone and Uhura's opinion is not seconded by anyone, merely noted by Kirk. [1]
