Heinrich James portrayed a Borg drone in Star Trek: First Contact.

James also had a small role in The Rocketeer (1991, starring Billy Campbell, with Paul Sorvino, Terry O'Quinn, Tiny Ron, Max Grodénchik, Clint Howard and William Boyett). He also appeared in Benefit of the Doubt (1993, with Theodore Bikel and Patricia Tallman). James guested on an episode of Space: Above and Beyond with Michael Reilly Burke.

He made appearances on several television shows, such as NYPD Blue (2000, starring Gordon Clapp, with Raymond Cruz, Elizabeth Dennehy and Pasha D. Lychnikoff), The Pretender, and ER. He guested on an episode of Spy Game with Keith Szarabajka. Don Stark appeared with James in an episode of Timecop. In a Seven Days episode, he guested along with Alan Scarfe.
