Heavy duty DOTs were a type of worker robot in operation in the early 25th century aboard Federation starships like the USS Titan-A. They were fitted with lasers which they used to conduct repairs.

In April 2401, on stardate 78186.03, after having limped to the edge of the Alpha Quadrant the Titan-A deployed numerous DOTs to conduct repairs to her warp core and other essential systems after she had escaped the Ryton Nebula and the Shrike. (PIC: "Imposters")
