Guard dog

A guard dog was a dog which had been trained to protect someone. One that watched over a junkyard was known as a junkyard dog.

In 1968, Gary Seven explained Isis' ability to follow his instructions by saying she was trained, and compared her to a guard dog. (TOS: "Assignment: Earth")
