Grip

A grip was a particular way of holding something, used in combat maneuvers.

In 2374, while using a kar'takin during a training exercise with his son Alexander, who was wielding a bat'leth, Worf corrected the younger Klingon's grip, saying his thumbs must be opposed when fighting with a bat'leth. (DS9: "Sons and Daughters")
