Grid 005

Grid 005 was the Borg spatial designation for a large region of space in the Delta Quadrant, spanning over five thousand parsecs, containing hundreds of habitable planets. It was home to numerous spacefaring civilizations, most notably the Krenim.

USS Voyager traversed Grid 005 in 2374, skirting Krenim space on the advice of a Krenim commandant.

Across a number of alternate timelines, Voyager was forced into a protracted conflict with the powerful Krenim Imperium while attempting to cross Grid 005, which its crew dubbed the "Year of Hell". They eventually discovered that these timelines were a result of Annorax using a weapon ship to erase rival civilizations from history, in an effort to restore the Imperium to its prime. Engaging the weapon ship in battle, Voyager caused it to erase itself from history, which restored the original timeline in which the Krenim were a diminished power in dispute with their neighbors.
