Great Horned Owl

A great horned owl (Bubo virginianus) was a species of nocturnal raptor native to North America on Earth. They were characterized by tufts on their ears.

In 2287, when James T. Kirk, Spock and Leonard McCoy's were taking shore leave in Yosemite National Park, an individual owl of this species was briefly seen and heard. (Star Trek V: The Final Frontier)

A statue of what appeared to be some kind of horned owl was also seen in the basement of the Arizonan "freedom fighters" featured in "Future's End".
