Gorn destroyer

The Gorn destroyer was a type of massive warship employed by the Gorn Hegemony during the 23rd century.

History

In 2259, the USS Enterprise was attacked by a Gorn destroyer and three Gorn hunters near Finibus III. After eliminating the hunters, the Enterprise crew fooled the destroyer into believing that they had been destroyed by accelerating close to a black hole while detonating an AP 350 atmospheric processor within its accretion disk. The Gorn destroyer quickly left the area, after thinking the Enterprise was destroyed. (SNW: "Memento Mori")

Later that year, a Gorn destroyer participated in the attack on the USS Cayuga and the colony on Parnassus Beta. It and three hunters subsequently engaged the Enterprise over the planet. (SNW: "Hegemony")

Technical Data

Armed with numerous plasma weapons emplacements, Gorn destroyers were substantially superior tactically to a Federation Constitution-class starship. They were also equipped with powerful shields as well as sophisticated transporter systems.

Like the much smaller Gorn hunter, this vessel projected patterns of light for inter-ship communication. The ship was capable of operating inside a planetary atmosphere. (SNW: "Memento Mori"; SNW: "Hegemony", "Hegemony, Part II")

Interior Design

Gorn destroyers have a massive processing area of the vessel called a Digestion Chamber. The Gorn place victims in cocoons within these chambers to be melted, digested, processed, and turned into either food for the Gorn crew or fuel for the ship.
