God of war was any deity associated with war.

"God of war" was the proposed description Captain James T. Kirk initially considered using to classify Trelane following their encounter on Gothos in 2267. Spock found the description "hardly fitting". (TOS: "The Squire of Gothos")

Mars was the Roman god of war. (TOS: "Bread and Circuses")

Vulcan mythology also included a god of war. (TNG: "Gambit, Part II")
