Gillian was a humpback whale living in the late 24th century and serving in Starfleet Cetacean Ops aboard the USS Voyager-A. (PRO: "Into the Breach, Part II", et al.)

Gillian proved to be the only one capable of understanding Murf and helped to translate what Murf was trying to tell his friends. (PRO: "Observer's Paradox")

Gillian later played a vital role in sending the USS Protostar back to the past, using the Echelon Formation to guide Voyager through the swarm of Loom and into the wormhole after all other navigation systems went down. (PRO: "Ouroboros, Part II")
